What We Offer

  • PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatment is a natural and rejuvenating procedure that uses your body’s own healing powers to restore a fresh, radiant look. By drawing a small amount of your blood, spinning it to concentrate the platelets, and then gently applying or injecting it into your skin, PRP stimulates collagen production, improves texture, and enhances overall glow. It’s perfect for softening fine lines, reducing scars, and giving tired skin a healthy, youthful boost—with minimal downtime and long-lasting results. Think of it as your skin’s way of pressing the refresh button.

  • Every hair follicle has a biological clock that determines how and when hair will grow or shed. Certain environmental, age-related and genetic factors can disrupt this biological clock, leading to decreased renewal and growth of hair.

Stress, changes in hormones (especially menopause and pregnancy) , poor diet, autoimmune conditions, medications, decreased immune system and skin disorders all negatively impact hair growth.

Using a simple blood draw and centrifugation method to extract a high concentration of platelets, we can inject the scalp with PRP to stimulate hair growth. The platelets release more than 800 different growth factors, exosomes and bioactive proteins that behave like 'biological switches' to encourage the injected tissue to function as it did in its prime.

For hair follicles this results in a number of benefits:

    - restores hair growth patterns to normal

    - reduces the rate of hair shedding

    - improves health of damaged hair follicles

    - reduces scalp inflammation and disorders that may have contributed to pattern hair loss

    - improved hair density and thickness

There are over 750 clinical research studies that have shown that PRP effectively treats male and female pattern hair loss.

  • Also known as Skin or Micro-Needling, this treatment uses tiny micro-needles to naturally stimulate collagen production, helping to smooth fine lines, fade scars, and improve skin texture. It’s a gentle, effective way to refresh and rejuvenate your skin—like giving it a healthy workout for a firmer, more radiant glow.

Micro-needling aims to alleviate the following dermatological concerns:

Scars caused by acne, surgery, burns
    Fine lines and wrinkles
Enlarged pores ( improves the dermal extra cellular matrix structure surrounding each pore)
Pigmentation disruption such as hyperpigmentation and melasma
Uneven skin tone and impaired skin elasticity
    Stretch marks and cellulite
Redness caused by rosacea (increases blood circulation to the area)

Additionally, Micro-needling with approved topical serums facilitates their absorption and supports their beneficial effects on the skin

    Fine lines

Fine lines are shallow, superficial wrinkles that appear on the skin’s surface. They are often the first sign of aging skin.

  • An abstract outline icon with diagonal lines within a circle shape.

    Sun damage

Sun damage, also known as photoaging, refers to the visible and structural changes to the skin caused by prolonged exposure to UV radiation.

    Wrinkles

Wrinkles develop as the skin loses elasticity and becomes thinner, drier, and less able to protect itself from damage.

    Pigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is a common condition that makes some areas of the skin darker than others. This is often caused by sun exposure or hormones.

    Acne Scars

These scars form when the inflammation from acne damages the skin tissue and collagen, and the body's healing process doesn't completely restore the original skin structure.

River water ripples shining in the light

About Maria

Maria has been a registered nurse for more than 15 years, with a speciality interest and postgraduate studies in Cardiothoracics at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, Victoria. With the move to the warmer shores of the Northern Rivers came a deeper interest in holistic care and natural forms of skin and hair rejuvenation.

Maria’s own skin health journey evolved after living the ‘good life’ through her childhood and teens, not understanding the importance of sun protection and a whole foods diet. Through a series of illnesses she discovered the power of natural and holistic medicine, learning how crucial quality food and water, low-tox living, stress management and sleep are to supporting skin and overall health.

Aurela Aesthetics was born from Maria’s passion for learning and helping others in finding their skin vitality and confidence.

Frequently asked questions

  • Platelets are found in our blood and play a key role in first cellular response when there is tissue injury or damage. By releasing bio-active proteins and growth factors, platelets stimulate tissue cell regeneration and enhance collagen and elastin production.

  • PRP skin rejuvenation is suitable for all ages and skin types.

There are some medical conditions that are contra-indicated:

Any one with cancer (or undergoing current chemotherapy/radiotherapy), platelet and blood disorders, anti-coagulation or steroid therapy (cessation prior to PRP treatment will must be discussed with your GP/specialist), acute/chronic infections or currently using antibiotics, pregnant and lactating women are also advised to hold off on treatment until hormone profiles are normalised.

  • 7 DAYS BEFORE THE PROCEDURE

    • discontinue any blood- thinning medication (in consultation with your treating doctor), as well as any supplements that may increase bruising such as gingko, fish oils, green tea, Vitamin E

    • no waxing, chemical depilotories, microdermabrasion, excessive UV exposure

    • cease using retinol, or acidic products such as Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), BETA hydroxy Acid (BHA), Glycolic and Salicylic acid

      2 DAYS PRIOR

    • discontinue any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory tablets and gels (ie Nurofen, Ibuprofen, Voltaren, Celebrex, Mobic

    • To maximise the performance of your platelets it is strongly advised that you eat fresh, whole foods in the weeks leading up to treatments, and a low fat meal is advised at least 2 hours prior to PRP treatment

    • Avoid caffeine and alcohol as much as possible to boost hydration, and remember to drink plenty of good quality water before and after the treatment

  • The short answer is yes. Chemical/mechanical peels, laser treatments, anti-wrinkle injections, filler, facial injections of any kind must be ceased at least 2 weeks before PRP therapy.

Again, it is strongly recommended that a week prior you cease using retinol, or acidic products such as Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), BETA hydroxy Acid (BHA), Glycolic and Salicylic acid

  • Most clients feel and see a difference in their skin immediately after the procedure, however this initial skin tightening will subside after 4 days. The PRP takes time, and will continue working under the skin's surface making new cells, elastin and collagen and improving the overall conditions in the extracellular matrix. This regenerative process can take up to 6 weeks to be more pronounced and visible, and most patients report that improvements last 12-18 months.

Research has shown that at least 3 PRP treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart yield the best and most lasting results. Top up treatments may be necessary, and these will depend on each individual case.
